Love the iPad?

After Bob Newhart

Ring... ring... ring...
Hello? – Hey Walt baby how you doing?
Still on vacation – you crazy kids!
You made it to California, fantastic.
Silicon Valley, wow!
No, I can’t guess who you ran into, wait a minute you had a traffic accident?
Oh good ... no, I really can’t guess who.
Steve J? What the Steve J, the Apple guy, terrific!
He’s really excited about his new gizmo?
What is it this time?
He had you send me one? Great, I’ll check.
Oh yes, there’s a big package here, would that be it?
WOW! Tell Steve thanks
A KING SIZED iPHONE.
What d’you mean it’s not an iPhone? It looks like an iPhone!
It’s an iPad – is that somewhere for my iPhone to live then?
No?
Right, so it’s more like an iPOD
Oh! Now you mention it does look a giant iPOD too.
Yep, got it!
An iPod that plays vinyl FANTASTIC!
But how the hell is it going fit in my shirt pocket?
No?
Oh!
OK Walt, one more shot.
Got it!
It’s a notebook with a wireless keyboard! Let me have another look in the box?
Tell Steve the keyboard is missing!
What do you mean it doesn’t have one? If I want a keyboard I’ll have buy it separately?
Hmmm, I see. So to sum up –
1 It looks like a king sized iPhone that won’t make phone calls
2 it also looks like an iPod that won’t fit in my pocket
3 it looks like a notebook without a keyboard and no protection for the screen
Have you been to the beach yet?
Oh by the way, if you see Steve J again tell him the Emperor loved his new clothes; bye for now Walt!

BUILD A GREAT WEBSITE

We've just received a note from one of our Dynamic Web Creator clients. She built and published her own website (quote "without the aid of a safety net!") in a matter of hours even modifying HTML code, (DWC has really good help facilities) She also used the free Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) tools.

Guess what?

Using one of the services she offers - 'back office admin support' - her site is already NUMBER 3 on Google!

See for yourself

If you want a quality website, which gets great Google listings from just £2.25 a month, take a look at internetservices-pse.com we'd love to hear from you!

What Value Opinions?

Opinion and advice is not only desirable but an essential contribution to our personal and business growth and development. Of course I would strongly support this view because I make living as a business adviser and consultant. As such I work within a very strict code of conduct and ethics (see www.iib.ws). Giving advice whether solicited or unsolicited should always be based on sound knowledge and experience.

The reason I raise this is that an associate of mine has recently updated their website with some new services, and sent an email to some 'friendly' contacts; including several business advisors (Note: advisors don't charge for advice but this should not affect the basic premise regarding quality and validity of advice given)to review the new offerings and whether they saw a market for such sevices.

One recipient, a business advisor replied almost instantly. His email was very terse, as follows 'Having to scroll down on the first page of a website to see what it's about is a big NO NO! Suggest you refer to a professional! He had been gracious enough to supply a link to a 'Professional Web writer' My associate followed the link - and found, on opening the site, that it made no sense whatsoever! It almost certainly would have done had she scrolled down the page a little, but following the 'expert advice' given that was, of course, a big NO NO!

To summarise, this missive has several morals.

1. Don't even think about offering advice or opinion without understanding what is being asked of you.

2. Don't offer advice you're not qualified to give.

3. Always check your facts.

4. Be very wary of FREE advice.

It makes you think

I received this interesting email from an associate of mine (Mike Burdett), of the assumption is that our darling Chancellor can actually count!

Our beloved Chancellor has just announced our national debt will reach GBP 1.3 Trillion in 4 years and I wanted to get my brain round that enormous number. So I did a quick calculation and asked myself when he would have had to start counting the money, if he could count GBP 1 per second, 24 X 7.

To count 1 million he would have to have started 11 days, 13 hours and 46 seconds ago.

To count 1 billion, the start would have been 31 years, 9 months, 8 days, 1 hour and 46 seconds ago.

To count 1 trillion, he would have to have started around 30,000 BC - rather appropriately, Neanderthal man would have been there to help him.

And for our 1.3 trillion, the count would be around 41,275 years.

Frightening isn't it!
